<p class=MsoNormal>I can’t imagine life without crates. My boys
sleep in their crates at night, go in their crates when we go away from home,
and eat in their crates. They LOVE their crates. If someone is “missing
in action” in the house, the first place I check is the crates.
They go in their crates for naps and quiet time of their own choice. The
rest of the time they are in the house with us or playing/lounging/sunbathing
in the fenced acre yard. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class=MsoNormal>If I left them all out in the house running free when we go
away, I would come back to a toilet paper-less house, with pillow fluffies
decorating the ceiling fans and who-knows-what-else. Also, it really is a
safety issue. Think of it like this – if there was an emergency
while you are not home, the fire fighters would more easily be able to rescue
your dogs since they would be in one area, confined – not hiding under
beds, behind furniture etc. Also, in our area where tornado’s are
common, we can always get the dogs to the basement easily since we have them
crated when weather is threatening. I would have MAJOR food fights
if I did not feed the dogs in crates. My boys will fight over two
things: food and girls in season. Also, feeding in crates makes it
much easier to be sure that everyone is eating appropriate amounts of food and
to give medications when necessary. My dogs are crated in an area
near two outside doors. When we are gone and at night, the shades are
pulled so no one can see inside. If someone were to try to enter the
house, my five dogs would raise such a ruckus that the would-be burglar would
take if he/she wasn’t deaf or stupid. <o:p></o:p></p>
