<DIV>We have a 2 year old Basset Boy who is in severe trouble and since we had a
Grrrage Sale last weekend we are now spending all we made on him and now we are
writing to you on the DD...not for M O N E Y..but for healing drool. We
sure worked hard but put on the best garage Sale! The Basset Hounds were out
there greeting all the people being excellent ambassadors for the Breed! It was
so much fun to see little kids pet the big long droopy ears..sooo soft....and to
see the smiles appear on the often tired looking faces coming into the
Sale....</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Will you please sling some healing drool for "Jimmy Durante" who was
brought up from California along with 47 other dogs that were due to be put to
sleep and he got Kennel Cough. THEN he was neutered.</DIV>
<DIV>Not a good plan. But we all do the best we can and he could have been dead
already. We have this chance on saving him.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Well anyway what was done was done and now 2 weeks later we have him. Thank
Goodness that the Rescue that had him was wise enough to know that they were in
a little over their heads and they gave him to us. (he was snapping at the
crawling baby 2 yr. old....because he felt awful and the baby was bugging him)
sooooo now we have a 33# 2 year old Basset Boy still reeling from being
neutered and being in the shelter and from getting a severe sickness like we
have hardly ever seen.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Long storey short is that he is in severe trouble. He is now eating some
and drinking some (still liquids sub q) and our Vet is helping him. He is
being lifted up & taken outside to pee and he sticks to my husband
like a rotting soaked leaf. His skull pokes out the skin over it...he is
in very sad shape. Poor Jimmy. Please will everybody send Jimmy some good
best wishes. He needs all the help he can get. We have the money to spend now
from the money we made on the grrrage sale...we just need a little luck now and
lots of healing drool. What a awesome thing it is to have all of us our little
rescue group all pulling together. We hope that he makes it. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The Garage Sale was blazing hot on Sat which called for the Margarita
making... but only one short one because we were soooo tired and only 3 of us
went out to Bier Pizza! lol then...and..then on Sunday it poured rain and we all
got soaked and now that it is all done...it is sorta fun and funny. At the time
it was a kick in the head though...we had a typhoon of rain and 6 or so truck
loads of unsold wet soggy stuff to haul off to the Goodwill Thrift Store
and I never saw people work so hard and so fast and so cheerfully in all my
life. We are awesome and so was..Baxter who was made to wait in his big
blue truck...so he honked the horn so long in the truck in the rain that we all
just stopped dead in our tracks in the pouring slamming down RAIN and
LOOKED towards the truck...It was so loud and so long...he just laid on that
truck horn in the pouring rain and our cardboard boxes got mushy and the bottoms
fell out! loll You know how you get so tired sometimes that you can hardly MOVE?
loll...well I sure wish the time of Baxter (the T is for Trouble) laying on the
horn hopped up there on the truck steering wheel couldda made biGG MONEY if we
had only gotten it on Tape to enter in some silly contest. Ahhh but it was
raining too hard to actually SEE Baxter as he sat up there on the biGG
steering wheel happily getting every bodies attention. The sound was so
loude we could not even tell where it was from it was impossible to SEE in the
vehicles..... The day before he chewed up Casey's I Pod which he
snagged frum some high place. Basset Puppies! So angelic to see ...but how
naughty they can be! lol Gotta love em. Always interesting anyhow and he just
may hold the world record for chewing up GLASSES hidden and stashed "safely" up
in high places...he sniffs em out!</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>We survived our Garage Sale and even had some funn but now... now we
have enough $$$ to help poor Jimmy Durante so all he needs now is love to
be sent his way. At 33# he is just skin and bones ..truly. Just skin and
bones...yet his tail still can waggle just some. He intends to wag but he is too
weak. Wish him healing will you?</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Love frum us at Basset Rescue of Puget Sound</DIV>
