<DIV>That was fun to read about Susan's Basset walking under Duke their
Bloodhound. Amazing really. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>We have a half Basset/half Bloodhound here right now in our Rescue waiting
for his "Forever Home" to come along. His name is "Lenny" with the Basset
Personality(sometimes wayyyy smarter than you can believe with a real funny
sense of humor) and the solid light soft golden color that
Bloodhounds sometimes have. He can really move out and in the house
and yard he lopes out in front of the pack. We encourage him to Lope outside
tho...it can get pretty wild pretty fast with a house full of hounds moving
fast! </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Lenny let our Basset Hound "Henry" catch up to him and will even TURN
so that Henry runs UNDER him. Lenny is able to stay ahead of the pack so easily
as he has 3/4 sized Bloodhound legs...and a real lazy like lope for Lenny
is a flat out RUN for the Basset Hounds. Sunday we watched him stay out in
front going around with the Bassets with our little pack zooming
fast as can be (for a Basset...and you know that can be pretty FAST too
lol considering the short legs and all that is). When the "crazies" mode
hit yesterday our "Henry" was crazily zooming as "Lenny" stopped his
Lope and just was standing waiting. Then Henry zooms beyond control
(on purpose?) and UNDER Lenny in his mad dash...circle back ears flying out
behind him. Spinning out of control with the back end circle out in a spin
out...actually a funny beautiful thing to see. A sort of Bloodhound
& RacecarBasset 5 to 10 minute Ballet.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>We wished we would have filmed it! Anybody ever see a
photo even of that kinda thing? It would be a good photo shot to
catch wouldn't it? lol It is so absurdly funny somehow. Sorta like the
reality of a Basset on the trail of a bunny...chases the SCENT and not by
sight for the actual rabbit...not to chase by SIGHT ..just to follow
where it goes. Yesterday it was so much fun to see the Bassets play
with our "BIG DOG" in the rescue boy Lenny. "Crazies" short and
sweet~lasts a short time at full tilt. Worth the wait to see though to
see Bassets finding a whole lotta fun in their long legged furrends! </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>When we go to "Meet Up's" here there always..ALWAYS some Basset just
walking UNDER some longer Legged (another dog or a people...lol Furrend. Pretty
fun. At the park yesterday too it was fun to see the Boxer (for instance) jump
up on the picnic table to get away from the speeding Basset Pack thinkin he (the
Boxer) was "safe" there up on the picnic table...and to see a couple of the
Bassets just JUMP UP there after him. No way was he safe from the chase fun.
Quite a surprise for the Boxer. Pretty fun for the determined Bassets!</DIV>
