I'm starting to beg early for this one. I need wranglers at the dog
shows in St. Cloud the first weekend in December. Like the total
idiot I am, I entered five, count 'em FIVE, bassets that weekend and there
is no way on earth I will be able to juggle all of them without
help. If you volunteer, you will have the oportunity to be
entertained by Crazy's no doubt hilarious antics her first time in the
ring. As usual, she will be pretty much totally untrained. Not
even really lead-broken. I don'tknow why I do this to myself.
Her litter sister Gotcha will be debuting also and I'm sure SHE will be
well-behaved. Oh well.

If you are at all
interested in helping hold bassets ringside that weekend, email me
privately.

crazy basset lady
MAKE DROOL NOT WAR
<br

that noise? LOOK OUT, <all bassets at the
> Bridge scatter>
up pulls a bright red sports car with the top down,
>
>
Pw. Gina Marie Green has made her way to the Bridge. I waddled right over
> to
> welcome Gina and woof to her about all the goings
on at the Bridge. The
> buffet and the back cloud room and the
big bowl of stars we all woof
> around
> at night. Gina
had her car filled with white boxes and in those white
> boxes
> was the best ever made by her mama chicken jerky. She woofed to
me that
> her
> mama had told her all about the buffet
and the wonderful foods that were
> at
> the buffet but
nothing compares with mama's chicken jerky. I woofed back
> let's
take a waddle to the buffet and have a big caesar salad with some of
> that mama made chicken jerky. Gina thought that was a good idea and
off we
> waddled. I was looking around to see were FEY went and
when we got to the
> buffet there she was with a surprise for
Gina. Gina woofed with delight
> when
> she saw her
surprise, it was Santa. No Gina just because he has a beard
> and
> is a big guy he is not Santa, he is a great human by the name
of TBO, Gina
> didn't care it was a man and besides her mama she
loved men because the
> man
> in her first family was
kind to her. So TBO loved on Gina, then Gina had
> her
>
salad and woofed to Melba that she would like to find a cloud of her own
> and
> check on her mama. A beautiful cloud was chosen
with a big soft bed. Syd
> B.
> the camera hound got out
the big camera and set it up on the cloud and
> Gina
>
got settled and looked down on her house back on earth. Woofwoof Mama hear
> me woofin to you, I am here at the Bridge ohhhhh mama don't cry
you were
> the
> best mama a girl could have, mama can
you hear me? You understood me, you
> gave me room and love and
yummy food, mama you gave me a reason to love
> again, and I
loved and trusted you BIG. Mama FEY got a nice man to give me
>
belly rubs here at the Bridge, he is very nice but I miss your touch. I
> can
> still feel your soft touch on my back and when I
got in your lap your tear
> is still on my head and mama I can
still see you all decked out in your
> TRI
> State
Basset Rescue jacket and shirt. I never had houndy friends because
> that was my choice but here at the Bridge I like all the hounds I
have
> friends now. Oh Mommy I miss you, when that hot Texas sun
hits your face
> and
> shoulders know that is me sending
you all my love to warmth you. I will
> always be with you deep
in your heart. Oh and mommy don't resist when
> another comes
your way, I know you said no more, but mama I don't want you
> to
be alone and you have too much love to keep it all to your self. I have

I am just feeling better so I have time
> to get into things. <br

I was about to eat him,
> since he took longer to eat his treat
than me.
>
> Next at 7 or ?, I have learned to run the

better watch out or I mow them down. I
> even take Willie"s
toys and run around with them. I jump on the couch,
> into the

how to empty the big trash can, even Wrinkles ATB never did that. I have
> been told. I rushed and tried to jump into my moms lap again
today, I
> don't see why I can't..Willie can.
>
infection and the vet said the ulcers must have really
hurt. So wouldn't
> you other bassets start living it up, if you
finally had a forever home
> and felt better?
>
I've never heard them called "reverse sneezes" but my
mini-doxie Avery
> does
> this more frequently than I
would like. We call it "shnarking." !!
>
> The
first time it happened, we panicked, thinking that Avery was choking
> or
> suffocating. When we asked the vet, she said that
it's a normal occurrence
> that occurs when a dog's soft palette
falls down. Our vet suggested that
> one
> way to get it
to stop is to force the dog to swallow. I do this by dunking
> my
finger in water and sticking it in the side of her mouth and onto her
> tongue. When the drops of water hit her tongue (or when my finger
hits her
> tongue, in times when I don't have easy access to
water), she usually
> swallows and the shnarks stop. Sometimes
though, we just have to let her
> shnark it out until she's done.
>
> So, I'm doing what everyone suggested, warm
> next week for his ears so unless it starts looking infected,

clinic because they think their dog
> is
> making some
strange choking-type noise. And he is doing it over and over.
>
> They describe some weird noise their dog is making- it's not
quite a
> choke,
> it's not vomit, it's not a cough and
it's not a sneeze. Most dog
> owners describe it as being more
like a sudden and repeated gag. What the
> dog
> is
actually doing is called a reverse sneeze . It can be normal for some <br

We have a video of what
> it
> looks like in the
article.
>
> During a reverse sneeze, your dog will make
rapid inspirations, stand
> still
> with his elbows
spread apart, extend his head, and his eyes may bulge.
> He'll
> make a loud snorting sound, which might make you think he has

think their pet is suffocating during a
> reverse
>
> We were taught to put our fingers over the end of the dog's

immediately and
> sometimes it doesn't seem to so I pass this
along as worth what you paid
> for
> it.
>

>
>
> I love your idea to make the
17th of every month "Check The Fence
> Day"! My
> husband was sweeping up the leaves with the rider on Saturday and
> (Thankfully!) noticed that our fence needed some repair. Some
may remember
> that after spending a fortune on that cute vinyl
picket fencing to
> surround
> our large back yard.we
discovered that Gracie Lou FlatBasset (the brains
> of
>
OUR particular outfit) could squeeze herself between the pickets when
> necessary. Since she was afraid of all humankind when we first
adopted
> her."necessary" was equal to "whenever I
get a chance".
> So.we walked her on
> lead in the
beautifully fenced yard until we'd completed the next phase of
>
the project.zip-tying chicken wire to the inside of each and every fence
> panel. Have I mentioned we have a large yard? If I remember
correctly, we
> have 30-35 six foot sections. In any case.it
worked and you can barely see
> it. My husband noticed, however,
that Gracie (we're sure it's her.the
> other
> two could
care less) has adjusted some of the chicken wire with her
>
snooter.so that she can stick her lovely face through the fence in several
> key locations. So, out came the zip-ties and the needed repairs
were
> accomplished.
>
>
>
>
Of course, it's another story for her other favored escape route which
> fortunately only happens when we have a bad winter. Two years ago,
the
> snow
> in the back was so high, Gracie led
Magnolia on a brisk neighboryard
> stroll
> after
walking OVER the fence. We had to go shovel a "moat" around
> the
> inside of the fence. That was a lot of fun in
several feet of snow!
>
>
>
> She's
always thinking! Ellen & Miss Magnolia & Gracie Lou
>

text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"
>
> It
literally took me months to decided whether I really believed an
> invisible
> fence would stop my hounds. We live in the
country, but somewhat near a
> road
> that gets busy at
times. We have an adequate fenced area, but I wanted
> them to
> have freedom to go wherever we go. I decided to try the
invisible
> fencing. I
> fenced in two acres.
>
> What I found was that my dogs learned quickly about the fence.
I was so
> proud
> of them. I went by the instructions
and took my time in teaching them.
> And
> even when I
forget their collars they have no desire to cross the fence
>
line.
>
> I never leave them out in the invisible fence
when we're not here. I work
> at home and so they can be outside
as much as they like. When we're gone
> they can use the pet door
to go out back in the fenced area.
>
> I frankly am
convinced that even a stubborn basset (or four) can learn
> about
> the invisible fence and respect its boundaries. Of course, some
wild
> creature
> could come into the yard and try to
harm them. That is a risk I'm willing
> to take to give them the
freedom of laying in the sunshine, digging up the
> pansies,
chasing the cat or watching the birds.
>
> I'm a
believer.
>
> Bonnie
> Slave to Stanley,
