Nancy,

Golden Gate have placed two hounds (or three if you count the two to the same place) in such facilities. One is an assisted living home and the other was a children's home, where the children live amongst the elderly who act as 'grandparents' to them. It is a great idea as the basset personality is so calming and funny and just what they need!

Can you imagine how fun it is to have your choice of so many couches and bedrooms, and all that attention and petting and loving! Not to mention the illegal treats!! Houndie heaven!

Addy

Message: 16
i had some business to do at an assisted living place today, and when i
walked in, there to greet me was a bassedor, he looked just like a
black lab on short little basset legs......he was a senior himself at 12
years old and his name was stumpy in reference to his legs i
guess.......when i mentioned it to marty he said, the rescues should try
to place docile dogs in these types of facilities....the dogs want a
couch and some lovin' and the residents want some petting time and
laughter......it is a win/win situation.......have any rescues thought
of making this kind of contact??.....nancy, hershey and einstein
