Hi have a Rainbow, and if it died tomorrow, I would go into debt again to have another. I love the power head on this machine. The water disposal can be a pain in the butt, but I take it out to the edge of the property and dump it. The hair is good stuff for bird's nests, and often see them (once the mess dries out) pulling on it and flying away. I have terrible allergies, and this machine makes it possible for me to have pets.

Our Daisy has this reddish looking skin under her front legs, up close to her body. It doesn't smell, or irritate her, so I haven't worried about it. It does look strange though.

We have a kiddie pool for the bassets. They love it in the summer. It isn't deep enough for them to "swim" in, but they can launch themselves into the cool water and lay around and cool off. Do be very careful of a basset in the water, it is very dangerous. A couple of years ago, Daisy broke through the ice in a ditch that was about 3 feet deep and very wide. It was in a subdivision that had a road recently built. It took DH by surprise, then of course he had to get wet in the middle of the winter to save her from the incident. Please be careful with deep water and a basset.
