<font face="Arial">   Daisy (now ATB), loved so well by Bettie

Vandervort, won the Biggest Feet contest at the North Texas Basset

Rescue Shuffle so many times in a row (I think it was four times) that

Bettie "retired" her from the contest so someone else's hound could

win. Daisy wasn't a particularly huge basset---around 55 or 60 pounds,

I think---but she had feet like saucers. They were 4 inches across. She

had bigger feet than her basset buddy, Woodrow, and Woodrow was a

solid, no-fat-on-him 90 pounds.<br>

   I had the privilege of driving Miss Daisy to her first Shuffle,

where she took the first of her several Biggest Feet awards. I don't

remember which basset won Biggest Feet this year, but his or her feet

weren't as big as Daisy's. I remember that from the awards presentation.<br>

<br>

  I would also guess that Newfies, Saint Bernards, or mastiffs have the

biggest dog feet overall, but the dog that left behind those great big

tracks might just be a huge mutt or something. I once encountered a

husky that was, no joke, as big as a wolf. His back was level with my

waist, making him about 44 inches tall. I've never seen one as big

since.<br>
