<div>I too have had a hound with chronic ear infections... of course he had skin issues too... You have no idea! Anyway, he had tons of allergies. We did all the tests, meds, allergy shots, steroids until his immune system had pretty much failed & he got meningitis. For him, what helped was a combination of "regular" vet stuff, allergy shots (2/month), acupuncture (which got him off the steroids) & chinese herb formulas. It was getting the allergies under control that stopped the chronic ear & skin infections. Found a GREAT vet who does integrative medicine, herbs/acupuncture/food therapy... etc & have been going there ever since. She gave my beloved Sebastian the best 2 years of his life. All the inflammation went away, he was able to run again & we all went to the beach once a month. He passed away last may, but he was (& still is) my joy, not to mention the best teacher I ever had.</div>
<div>Now I've grabbed a little 15mo old boy with very little hair & skin issues as a foster. Because of Sebastian I know how to help this guy. Hal had his first visit at my vet on weds & is starting to grow a little hair.</div>
<div>Hmmm... did that help at all? Sorta seemed to ramble there. I guess the point is, find out what causes the chronic infection. Treat that, then the ear infections should pretty much go away.</div>
