font-family:Arial'>I just wanted to share with as many people as possible about
my Joey who was diagnosed with a spleen tumor at the beginning of Sept 2008.
At that time it looked very bleak for Joey according to most Vets. That was
almost 6 months ago. We put Joey on the following treatment plan and he is
doing great and the Vet could not even feel a tumor at his last visit. I want
to share this as our Duke had a spleen tumor and passed away a few days after
surgery and one of our friends has also lost a basset to a spleen tumor. Given
Joey’s age, 12 ½ at time of diagnosis surgery was not an option for him.
Hopefully this information will help some of you who are lucky enough to catch
a spleen or other type of tumor early enough to treat it. </span></font></b></p>

<p class=MsoNormal style='text-autospace:none'><b><font size=2 face=Arial><span
style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'>Joey is on one prescribed medication
and several herbal or natural supplements. The medication he is on is called Neoplasene
Oral 350 mg and it is a botanically derived medicine from the blood root

We give Joey 3 ml a day broken up over two meals. Also, we totally changed his
diet, he is now on grain free kibble as well as grain free canned dog food. We
mix the kibble and wet (about 1/3 can at each meal) together for him to make it
easier for him to take the meds. The reason for the diet change was due to
many web sites saying that grain free is a better cancer diet for dogs. We
also give him grain free treats and limit his intake of grains to the biscuits
he gets from our mail lady and an occasional small treat. </span></font></b></p>

style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'> </span></font></b></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='text-autospace:none'><b><font size=2 face=Arial><span
style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'>At each meal he takes the following
supplements in addition to the Neoplasene. 2400 mg fish oil (2 caps per meal),
350 mg Echinacea, 470 mg Astraglus, 300 mg Cats Claw, 1800 mg Maitake Mushroom
extract (4 capsules (450 mg each) per meal) containing total 120 mg of
D-Fraction extract and Standard Process Spleen PMG (Vet only) tablets 1 per
meal. I have read that the Maitake mushroom powder is supposed to help dogs
fight cancer and abnormal cell growth. I also read that it is the main
ingredient in a cancer treatment called K-9 Immunity, which is very expensive
to say the least. All the supplements can be found at any Vitamin World store,
GNC no longer carries Maitake mushroom supplements. Also, some whole/natural
foods stores will have the Maitake mushroom, but you will be paying more
there. The mushroom supplement is the most expensive supplement at approx. $15
per 100 capsules. The rest are usually under $10 each and last much longer
since they are only 1 or 2 capsules per meal. The Neoplasene is vet prescribed
only and cost may very, but my vet charges a $1.50 per ml if I buy less than
200 ml and $1 per ml is I buy 200 or more ml at a time. </span></font></b></p>

style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'> </span></font></b></p>

style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'>To give this to Joey I just open
each capsule and sprinkle it on his food then mix in the Neoplasene and canned
food and add 3-4 ml of water and he gobbles it down. All the supplements I
mentioned are supposed to be immune system boosters. Also as an aside, Joey
used to have a growth on one of his paws that made it difficult to walk in the
cold, but now after the meds we have been given him, he walks fine in the cold
and the growth on his pad has shrunk to probably less than 25% of it's usual
size. </span></font></b></p>
