retrieving. BUT, they can easily learn to retrieve. Start with the
end result. Put and toy/ball in their mouth, tell them to drop it, and
minute they drop it, they get a treat. Once they really understand the
"Drop it" command, start with short foot or two tosses, when they pick up the
toy do your "Come" (with treat) and Drop It (with treat) and you have
created a retriever. It's a great way to exercise your basset from your
