<DIV>Hi All</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Ranger and I went to the vetspital Friday morning. He was examined, poked
and proded, and the only thing we came up with was something I discovered while
I was waiting for the vet to come into the exam room. I noticed his nasal
passages were partially blocked and there was a little crusty stuff around
his nostrils. Like a little kid with a cold. I grabbed some kleenex and wet it a
bit and gently cleared the discharge from his nostrils. It was mostly clear with
a little mucous in it and I found a piece of a foxtail lodged in one
nostril. While doing this, I discovered that it caused him pain if I raised
his head up from a lowered position. Side to side movement seemed fine but if he
lowered his head and I tried to lift it up, he would tense and his head and neck
would quiver while being lifted. Bless his heart, he didn't yelp or cry out but
I could tell it hurt him. So when the vet came in, I showed her the discharge
and the foxtail I'd collected and we discussed the pain he experienced while
raising he head. She perscribed some previcox for the neck pain and an
antibiotic for the nasal discharge that she felt was caused by the foxtail in
his nasal passage. She palpated his abdomin and didn't feel that he had a
blockage. He is drinking water and keeps it down. Ranger still hasn't eaten
but he is feeling better. His body language, posture and attitude are better
today. I'm hoping he'll want to eat a little this evening. I'm moving his crate
out of the area where his mpther's is because she growels at him as he goes by
her if she's in her crate and he doesn't want to come past her. If he is
not eating by Monday morning, I will take him back to the vet for
further evaluation.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I would have posted sooner but I had one of my pygmy does deliver
triplets Friday evening about 7 p.m. then Dazzle began showing signs of
labor around midnight. About 2 a.m. Dazzle began having contractions and
delivered three puppies between 3:15 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. this morning. I called
in to the vet when they opened as she was still contracting and had not passed
any of the placentas with the puppies so off to the vet we went again this
morning to get an xray to see if we had more puppies coming and get
some antibiotics for her. By the time I got back home, I was so tired I could
hardly think. I checked on the momma goats and their kids, fed the bottle babies
and made sure Dazzle and her puppies were settled in then laid down with
the baby monitor on for a much needed short nap. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Thank you to all of oyu for your emails and sending drool for Ranger. We
are not out of the woods yet but I am feeling more optomistic about him. I'll
update you all as things progress. The chicken and rice are cooking as I
type.</DIV>

<DIV> I hadn't thought of that. I appreciate your mentioning it. I will
be sure he gets a thorough exam. On thing I did think of was injury to his
diaphragm which is very painful. I know as I've experience that for myself.
I couldn't eat either.</DIV>
