
<html><head><style type='text/css'>p { margin: 0; }</style></head><body><div style='font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10pt; color: #000000'><P>Dewclaws are removed when tails are docked at about 3 or 4 days old. Some breeds routinely have dewclaws removed (Belgian Sheepdogs) but Bassets are one breed where it is simply up to the breeder. All of my Bassets have all their dewclaws altho one broke a dewclaw (the bone) as a puppy. My Vet had never heard of that happening and said, well, leave it to you to do something entirely bizarre. </P>
