What we had done years ago was to pick a closet. Put an eye and hook at the top of the door, make it so that when fastened, it leaves the door open about 3  inches-- enough for a cat, not a dog. The litter box, at least, was in the closet. Drove the dogs nuts. But it worked.<br>
