<DIV>Ok It's Miss Ellie Mae Basset checking in. Our boy Lucas, the
grandkid started middle school and got a thingy with his name and picture on it
in case he forgets who he is. The Mom person has looked everywhere in our
little town for a Lanyard (a thingy to go around the neck) to attach the ID
Badge to and can't find one. One of the Bestest Basset Ladies in the world
suggested we ask the Daily Drool to see if the rescues sell anything like
that. I think you better let us know soon because the kids in 5th grade
and they charge $5. every time he loses that darn thing. I being a wise
and beautiful well rounded woman don't have a problem with losing things but
then we all know how boys are. Please email us off list if you can
help.</DIV>
<DIV> My Mom person and the boy Lucas came home in July with a
new guy. His name was Oliver and boy was he a mess. Mom said he was
a rescue from a back yard breeder who was using him for Stud service. Made
me really happy I was spayed. YUK! He was so dirty that Mom wouldn't
let him in the house. He wouldn't get out of the car. Mom carried
him to the back yard. He was scared to death of my little brother Asher.
(Miniature Schnauzer) Mom gave him a bath. She said it was his first
one ever. He will be 2 in December. His ears are both lacey looking
on the ends where other dogs had chewed on them. He had a hole in his neck
where a tick had been pulled off, the bite had started to heal and a dog had
bitten the place open. He had more fleas than Mom had ever seen and his
ears were a 1/4 of inch caked in dirt. Mom left the back door open and he
finally was coaxed into the house. Ollie, as we call him, had never been
in a house before. Mom kept telling us he was a foster and we would find
him a forever home as soon as he learned some social skills and was more
secure. The first trip to the Vet proved he had ear mites, was Heartworm
Neg, and got all his shots. Ollie had never been to the Vet before.
The second trip to the Vet showed his ear mites were completely gone and he got
his booster shot. The discussion of getting Ollie neutered came up but the
my Mom said the Lady Vet did a check of that area and got really, really
mad. She told Mom someone had put a rubber band down there and that it
wouldn't be necessary to neuter Ollie. Mom had just asked the Vet why
Ollie wasn't marking things like other young males his age do. Mom was so
upset at this news and so was Dad. Guess what Ollie is no longer a
Foster. Seems Ollie isn't going anywhere. He's staying right here
where we know for sure that he's not being mistreated and that he's getting lots
of love. He is a fast learner I have to admit he keeps my ears very clean
and fusses over me. He treats me very well. I tell you that Ollie is
very strange but that is a whole different email. That is what happens
when your Mom brings home stray kids that she knows nothing about. She did
say something to Dad about it serving the stupid backyard breeders right since
they were wondering why they were not getting any puppies out of their females
after paying all that money for them. She said if they are that
stupid they are just another reason backyard breeders shouldn't be
allowed.</DIV></BODY></HTML>
