I have found an old book on Bassets that my Mom had and
how times have changed. For a 2 month old, morning feeding was 5 to 6
tablespoons of milk, 3-4 tablespoons of cereal, Noon was 1-2 heaping tablespoons
of raw ground meat, Afternoon, repeat morning feeding, Evening, repeat noon
feeding, late evening 5-6 tablespoons milk and 1-2 tablespoons of cod-liver oil
twice a day. As the dog gets older things are added such as cooked
mashed veggies, table scraps and toast A year old dog would
get 1 3/4 Cup meat, 1 3/4 cup cereal or toast, 1 3/4 Cup veggies or
table scraps and 3 tablespoons cod-liver oil twice a day until warm
weather. I have no idea why the cod-liver oil stops in the summer.
I have no idea how old this book is, but we got our first basset in the
early 50's.
