<DIV>Here's a portion of an email from Dawn around midnight last
night.
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>This will need to be brief, but wanted to give the a..m. update.....</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>News services are reporting clouds rolling in and moisture - possibility of
RAIN - my immediate thought is - the Drool being slung is arriving!! Thank
you oh gret Droolers - and the Houndie Bridge Team who moves that great
atmospheric drool to those in need.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Today the smoke is very close to the ground - it's not unworkable - but oh
the toll on the lungs! Furbabies will be annoyed today as play time will
be limited - esp. for the seniors.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>FIre department is mapping and assessing containment this morning - you
guys may have that info before we do </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>
<DIV>The drool prayers are working as always - keep them coming!</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Dawn and the entire gang of</DIV>
<DIV>Barni at Daphneyland - the home of happy hounds.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Dawn and I spoke briefly around 2 a.m. California time and she said that
everything depends on the wind, which is being confirmed on TV news today.
I've heard a lot of reports today that everyone is waiting to see what the wind
does. To quote a fireman who was on TV, if the winds kick up, it could be
absolutely devastating. That type of news we don't want to hear.
Some areas are getting very light rain and the reports say that it's not enough
to have any impact on the fires.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I've had several emails from people asking how they can
help. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Dawn and I put together a list of items they have an immediate need
for. Please check updates for additional items as she becomes aware of
them being needed. Right now, the hounds of Daphneyland need the following
items, most are needed because of the dense smoke:
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Eyewash (Available at any drugstore or Walmart, Costco, etc.)</DIV>
<DIV>BNP Eye Ointment (Available at Walmart) and any type of ophthalmolic eye
salve</DIV>
<DIV>Pure aloe vera - (no dyes in it)</DIV>
<DIV>Cranberry capsules </DIV>
<DIV>L-Glutamine powder</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The stuffed toys the hounds play and cuddle with are all saturated with
smoke and will have to be thrown out. Dawn suggested that instead of
paying retail prices for toys, anyone interested in buying toys purchase them
from <A title=http://www.dog.com/ href="http://www.dog.com/">www.dog.com</A> or
<A title=http://www.petage.com/
href="http://www.petage.com/">www.petage.com</A>. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Gift cards for Walmart or Costco would be appreciated as they could be used
for items not on the current list.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>If you would like to send anything to Daphneyland, please use the following
address, which is Dawn's parents' home:</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>BaRNI/Daphneyland</DIV>
<DIV>c/o Jim and Cathy Smith</DIV>
<DIV>5643 Shirley Avenue</DIV>
<DIV>Tarzana, CA 91356</DIV>
