<DIV>I apologize for being late in the update - yesterday was a very busy day
and when I was able to get back to the residence to email, my eyes were crossing
and I decided to take a nap - and was OUT LIKE A LIGHT until this morning.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Thursday containment seriously increased, and as it did smoke and fumes
decreased - we were able to let the hounds out for most of the day although
attempted to keep them somewhat calm and not too rambunctious. It was a
tough day in that after an event of this nature, we really do need to take a
deep breath - and figure out where we are at, hunker down and begin the clean up
and recovery efforts.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Yesterday recovery began - Staff of Cesar Millan arrived and these
energetic angels loaded up about 50% of the backed up kennel laundry, hauled it
off to a laundramat and spent the day washing and drying some fairly toxic
laundry - they took pictures of the project, and as soon as we have
copies of them, we'll be forwarding them out - After they returned from what is
one of the yuckiest jobs around, they came on in and squeeled and rolled with
some fo the hounds and got some great shots. Julie really tugged at heart
strings and was being her puppy devil self - she did eventually get a time out,
but was so wiggly in her enthusiasm to kiss everyone she could find, I really
didn;t have the heart to chastise her too greatly. The hounds have been
though a lot in the last week, they deserve some acting up time. I know I
want to shout to the skies - why should their behavior be any different?
They have been such GOOD kids given all the factors involved.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>To each and every donor - well wisher and fan of the Hounds - goD bless
you. If I dwell on it too much I start to tear up at how much support has
been pouring in and I think we have established that once I let the tears begin
- it's a waterfall - so better right now to hold them in and get to the tasks at
hand.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I have no idea where containment is at, as everytime I try to catch news, I
fall asleep. Yesterday a fireman arrived here - after 72 hours straight he
had returned to his home to discover the Mt. Gleason fire camp ahd been over ran
and burned. They had evac'd the fire camp - no one took his dogs.
With tears in his eyes he asked where to start looking. "I know they most
likely died, but I HAVE TO TRY TO FIND THEM, I cannot loose hope". We made
many calls - and have his contact info. Fire victims. And these
types of contact are just beggining. They lifted the Acton evacs
yesterday, with the condition if one thinks they are in danger, to immediately
turn around and get right back out - as people begin coming back to the area we
will have many such cases, and each is as equally heart breaking as the
next. Please light candles for all the many victims of this catastrophe -
shelters will beging to fill up as lost babies come out of hiding, or neighbors
feel safe enough to travel to a local shelter, as animal control can get back
into the area and begin clean up efforts.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>In the last week our wonderful emergency foster families have pulled
(bailed from shelters) 5 bassets - and we're just beginning to see them showing
up post fire.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Today is what we call a "Bleach Down" and we have volunteers coming in to
help today - I must get to the hounds, so I apologize if this is
rushed.....</DIV>
