Long story short: Droopy had infections a few times, the last one was AWFUL and ended up rupturing. After that, i decided to have them removed. At the young age of 10 he underwent the surgery. it involved pre-op blood work and an overnight stay at the vetspital. he did fine, healed up within a week, and has had NO side effects from the procedure.

My advice: if your vet feels your pup is up for it, and is willing to take all of the pre-op precautions, go for it. Things are much much better here with the glands gone. not to mention i'm saving 100 bucks a month on expression, vet visits, and antibiotics. all in all i believe the surgery, bloodwork, etc etc was around 1000 bucks. Good luck!
