i had the same problem with Gus. would eat his poop when left alone in the yard. so then i started escorting him out, and "flagging" the poop with a white wired stake so i could go out later and pick it up, night or day. after a while of not eating it, he stopped turning around wanting to get at it. but i still flag it and pick it up later. i also now bring him to a section of the yard that he doesn't have access to while on his run. so if i don't get out immediately to pick it up, i can still leave him out to wander on the run, but not eat the poop. i received several suggestions from the Drool, lemon juice, tabasco, different stuff to pour on it, but i find flagging it and going back later works for us. also, like i said, he doesn't seem that interested in it anymore.
