font-family:Arial'>I don’t get a chance to post often but had to share my
latest story about our Hank, affectionately known as Cranky Hanky. After
flunking out in two previous foster homes, Hank came to our house 2 years
ago. After a year we adopted him since he was deemed unadoptable to
normal people. Hank is doing a lot better but still has his days.
Now he mostly just makes me laugh. Exercise is very therapeutic for Hank,
but his feet freeze up at about 20 degrees. Not a good combo for living
in MN. So I bought the expensive Muttluks. Tried them in the house
but he wasn’t really crazy about them. So I thought I would try
them outside. Hank is smart- in his own way, so I thought he would get
the connection and see the benefit to wearing them in the snow and ice.
Off he went alternating between running and shaking his feet. About a
half block into the walk he flopped down in the snow, flat basset. Much
cajoling would only move him a few feet. Fearing he would get frostbitten
I tried to take the boots off- Hank would tolerate no touching of his feet and
tried to bite me. Meanwhile, the neighbors came out and gave us some wine
in thanks for cat-sitting. That was nice. Then they joined the audience
which already included Ella and my husband. Second attempt on removing
the booties- more snapping of teeth. More cajoling, more flat
basset. Finally I said that’s it! Hank we are going in the
house! So I picked him and carried him back home. In the house I put his
muzzle on and removed the muttluks- all without complaint from Hank. Then we
went back out for a walk, sans Muttluks. Hank 1, mom 0.
