<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Hi everyone. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Our Jacob is an angel now. He ate this
morning, and at 10am, was sleeping easily when Pat left for work. When
I got home about 1215 to check on everyone, he was having troubles
breathing, and was unresponsive. I thought I could get him to the
vet, but in the short time it took me to get him on the dog
stretcher, I could tell he was not going to make it, I laid down
next to him in the kitchen and held him as he left for the bridge. I
thought with the pred, and that he was not coughing, he
was doing okay, hanging in. But I suspect the cancer was throughout
his body. We did no further testing after we found the lung tumor as it
really would not have made any difference. I didn't have a need to know
how much more there was. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Jacob was a rescue basset, coming into our lives in
early spring of 04. He was probably about 6 or 8yrs old when he came
here, so would be 12 -14 now. Like many rescues, sometimes
they can be quite trying until they get the routine down. Jacob was a test
for us with his bathroom habits. He must have never been allowed
inside, because he did not want to go outside, for any reason! For
about the first year, we took him out on a leash to get him adjusted.
Finally, the days came when he would run outside and do his business and then
run right back inside. We always praised him for being such a good boy for
that, even up to this morning I told him what a good boy he was to go do
his business outside. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>For the last 5 years, he has slept next to me every
night I have been home. I do not know what that will feel like now, to not
have him. Oh, there will be another sleeping next to me, I
need that, but it won't be J, and I am heartbroken with him
being gone.</FONT></DIV>
