<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;
font-family:Arial'>This is not about Amazing Grace (but that was definitely a
wonderful story). This is an update about my Gracie, who injured the ACL
in her back leg recently. Originally the Vet put her on Deramaxx and
Tramadol – she had a bad reaction to the Tramadol, so we stopped that
immediately and continued with the Deramaxx and a mild tranquilizer to use at
night if needed. Well, Gracie got a little bit better each day, and in
the meantime I traded emails with Debbie Winchester. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;

<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;
font-family:Arial'>Debbie told me she had 4 of her 5 hounds on something called
<b><span style='font-weight:bold'>SOD & Boswellia</span></b>, and that it
was amazing, all her dogs were getting around extremely well. In the meantime
I had done some research on Deramaxx and found out that it’s the animal
version of Celebrex – you know, the drug for people that was pulled from
the market by the FDA because it causes huge increases in stroke and heart
attack risk – and I said, ho man, she’s not taking that
stuff. (In animals Deramaxx / Celebrex can cause internal bleeding and
liver and kidney failure, not heart attacks or strokes like in people.) So
after talking with Debbie Winchester some more, I ordered some of the SOD &
Boswellia from California Vet Supply and in the meantime started taking Gracie
off the Deramaxx. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;
font-family:Arial'>Well the SOD & Boswellia came in quickly and we started
using it, and Debbie is right, it is wonderful stuff. Gracie takes 5
tablets a day (2-1/2 in the AM and also 2-1/2 in the PM) and is doing
great. I have to watch to make sure she doesn’t walk too far, she
still has weakness in that joint and probably always will, but she definitely
can go on short walks now, and around the house and the yard she goes and goes
and goes. And it’s still slowly improving.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

font-family:Arial'>Oh, something interesting here -- when Gracie was first
injured, I could tell she was in pain because she was quivering all over.
Well, guess what – Miss Stinker has figured out that Mama responds to
trembling and quivering, so now she has learned to turn on the quivers when she’s
trying to wheedle me out of food or treats. As soon as she gets what she
wants, the trembling is magically gone! And they say Bassets are dumb
dogs…oh yeah, sure they are. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
