<font color='black' size='2' face='arial'>We decided to take Gallagher to Obedience Training. We probably should have started him younger (he'll be 2 in May), but better late than never. Our big issue is getting him to come when he's called. Walking calmly on a leash would also be wonderful. When I called to reserve the spot and told them I had a Basset Hound, the guy said it might take a bit longer for him to learn. How sad, but true is that?
<div>Wednesday was our first class. There were 7 other dogs in the class: a standard poodle (# 1 in dog intelligence, supposedly); a golden retriever (#2), 2 boxers, a labrador (also top) and a Jack Russell. I saw the competition and thought - guess who'll be wearing the dunce cap! Gallagher is just a goof ball! Imagine my surprise when he was actually the best of the 7! I couldn't believe it. Of course we only learned "watch me" "sit" and "visit" (to socialize with other dogs). We have 5 more classes to go, but I'm optimistic. </div>
<div>MacKenzie's tummy issues appear to be resolved and she's no longer afraid to eat out of her bowl. She's going to Obedience classes after Gallagher - one at a time is just fine!</div>
