<div>I have no experience with corneal ulcers in dogs, but I am an optometrist, and I treat them in people all the time.&nbsp; We NEVER patch an eye with a corneal ulcer.&nbsp; Ulcers can be caused by bacteria, and if you patch the eye, it creates the warm, moist environment in which bacteria love to grow.&nbsp; I'm so sorry that Elmo is having to go through this.&nbsp; Most of the ulcers I treat are caused by people who overwear their contact lenses, so I don't have that much sympathy for them!&nbsp; But I'll make sure that Fred and Annie&nbsp;send lots of ulcer healing drool for poor Elmo.</div>
