<P>We had Ruby to the vet today. She was chewing her leg yesterday and ended up with an infection. The vet said she created a skin ulcer. Anyone ever hear of this? He shaved it and said he had to shave it bigger because the ulcers don't heal if you don't. He gave her an antibiotic shot, prednisone, a pain shot, and special cleaner and cream to put on it. I can keep the collar off if she dosen't itch it. So far she has been good. Bassets and collars don't do too well. I bought her a new blow up one which is better than the old plastic things. She seems to tolerate it better. I got about 2 hrs sleep last night since she was in pain and kept breathing heavy most of the night. She is much better this evening. He also said her anals were impacted and that may have been why she chewed her leg trying to get to them. She never scooted or had an odor. Don't figure. Anyway, if there is any extra drool, please sling some our way. </P>
