<div>It seems like any change in routine can effect some hounds eating habits. We made arrangements for our daughter to stay with the Houndettes while we were in NY a couple of weeks ago. We figured that everything would be fine because three of the four were in their own environment (Suzy came with us because of her bladder issues). Boy, were we wrong! Ginger and Jersey's eating habits continued as usual (they will eat anything that's not nailed down!). Shadow went on a hunger strike. She's the least food motivated basset that I have ever seen. Even when we're home you would think that we're asking her to eat a snake in her bowl instead of her kibble. We have started adding sharp cheese to her food along with the vanilla yogurt just to get her to eat on a regular basis. After several days of not eating, my daughter finally resorted to buying some canned food which Shadow gladly ate for the rest of the time that we were gone. She's completely back to normal since we've been home and is eating her normal meals just fine. So much for leaving the girls in their own environment! Suzy was definitely off while we were away but we kind of expected that. She ate and drank enough that we weren't worried and is back to normal now that we're home. I have to say, Suzy was really fun to travel with and loved all the extra attention she got. We had to stop quite often and she became the star at the rest stops while we were there. It's really fun being slaves to a dog that people seem to automatically trust. Suzy loves kids and a number of couples asked if their children could pet her along with the teens and truckers that would stop and give her belly rubs.</div>

<div>Buckets of healing drool and many prayers are on their way to Elder Clara. I'm actually recovering from my third ruptured disc surgery that I had done a couple of months ago. Unfortunately, I seem to lose my legs every time I've done this and can more than sympathize with Elder Clara. I'm hoping that her bassitude alone will help her recover along with the prayers and drool coming in her direction. The Houndettes send healing drool to all who need it.</div>
