<div>Rebecca, thank you for the links ... I'd have a blast on that farm with my love of animals.  I'd smuggle a piglet into my room to sleep with, so I'm sure I'd be welcome back over and over.  And at the risk of sounding like a crude Yank, I could listen to those accents all day long.</div>

<div>Happy birthday, Nigel & Lewis!  Dadslave's comment about not seeing another birthday made me laugh... the heat index here in VA is well over 100, so the hounds go out to do their thing and swagger back in.  Every once in a while a burst of energy sends them into a howling, snarling, roaring mess ... I think they've about had it with this heat, as has everyone.</div>

<div>Kahuna's momma .... I have a friend with two Bassets that lives in Tucson, I'll see what she does.  I do know that she has a pool, and special "flotation suits" for her houndies, so takes them on "swims".  Most of the pictures she posts on her Facebook, though, are Kahuna-style, sprawled out anywhere cool.  I think a Basset's favorite view of the world is from upside down.</div>

<div>And Elwood ... oh Elwood ... how you make me laugh out loud even on my roughest mornings.  I'm glad everything "came out okay" in the end ... between the tamater and the pizza, the living room carpet has been quite the trooper this week!</div>

<div>I need advice for treating my first hotspot ... my Buckley has developed one on his belly.  I'm applying Sulfodine twice daily, anything else I should do?  And I don't know if its the heat, or the fact I give him a few tablespoons of wet Beneful a day ... but his fur is literally coming off in clumps.  He is one of those rough coated bassets, so there is a perfectly intact layer of fur beneath the large "tufts" that come off his flanks (he'll only tolerate me plucking at them for so long)... he's not scratching, he's eating like a champ ... anything I need to be concerned about?</div>
