<DIV>Regarding your itchy, scratching dog--</DIV>
<DIV>First, check to be sure your hypoallergenic food does not have any soy in
any form. Then check for corn, wheat, and gluten of any kind. All of
these are common allergens for Bassets.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Second, you night try spraying or sponging on Listerine--the original
yellow formula--generic is ok. Mix it half and half with water. This
should help the itching, and leaves a nice, clean smell.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Third, you might try using colloidal silver (available from Health food
stores in liquid form) mopped on with cotton balls.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Fourth, you might talk to your vet about using Chlor Trimeton (generic
available from WalMart) instead of benedryl--is does not cause so much
drowziness. The vet would need to tell you the dosage.</DIV>
