<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman">Our 11-1/2 year old Blue is currently in the CCU unit it’s going to be touch & go for the next 24-48 hours. As you may recall he was diagnosed with diabetes this fall and he also is on medication for IBD, hepatitis and glaucoma.</span></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman"></span> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman">He hasn’t been quite himself lately and this morning he quickly went down hill, not wanting to walk or eat, trembling as well as unresponsive to vocal commands.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>When I decided to take him in, I couldn’t even get him to stand and luckily a neighbor came to help me get him into the car.</span></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman"></span> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman">He was quite vocal on the drive over, yelps and moans.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>But about 2/3 of the way over, I realized I hadn’t heard a peep out of him for several minutes and he was quiet the rest of the way.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>I really thought he was gone at that point.</span></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman"></span> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman">My husband met me at the vet and Blue was still breathing, but pretty much out of it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Staff came quickly and got him into the ER on a crash cart.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>They took his blood sugar, and the number didn’t even register, which meant it was less than 20 (they want him to be in the mid-200s).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>By the time we left, they had given him glucose and it was up to 400.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>He’s breathing on his own, but is still shaking, drooling copiously and not too with the program.</span></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman"></span> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman">They’ll monitor him today and tonight.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Tomorrow we’ll see how he’s doing and where we go from here.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>There’s the possibility that he might have brain damage so we’ll have to wait to see what happens.</span></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman"></span> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman">Today just happens to be the 5th anniversary of when we lost his brother/littermate Jonesy. </span></P>
