<DIV><FONT face=Tahoma>HHBR was contacted by a rescuer in the Newton, IA area that there was a 10 year old male Basset at the local euthanizing shelter & wanted to know if we could help pull him and take him into our foster care program. We of course couldn't resist the face of this sweet old man & his story like most set our hearts afire in our goal to help him. Floppy was surrendered to the shelter after being with his family for 5 years, they were moving & could not take Floppy, but conveniently they could take the other dog in the family, a young male lab. At the age of 10.5 he was sitting in the shelter for almost a month before anyone knew about him. His love & dedication to any human never wavering, as long as we have laps he can crawl up into he is happy as can be. <BR><BR>Floppy's Photos can be seen at the link below (WARNING he's one HANDSOME hound!!) <BR><BR></FONT><A href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/34773958@N07/sets/72157625781030279/"><FONT face=Tahoma>http://www.flickr.com/photos/34773958@N07/sets/72157625781030279/</FONT></A><BR><BR><FONT face=Tahoma>HHBR put Floppy into a foster home, the next morning he went to see a local rescue vet & had wonderful results, except for the Dr noticed he had a Grade 3 Heart Murmur. So we set off for the Cardiac Specialist & today Tuesday 1/25 floppy was diagnosed with Dilated cardiomyopathy. DCM is a disease characterized by dilation or enlargement of the heart chambers and markedly reduced contraction. The Dr said with medications & no other complications Floppy could live another 3-4 years & so we're hopeful this sweet old man will live to see his 13th Birthday, a regal age for a graceful old soul. Now here's the difficult part, the vet bills for Floppy are sadly mounting, at this moment his vet total is up to right around $600.00 & he still needs a dental & will forever need his heart medications.
