<DIV>He's just like a Jack in the Box - now you see him, now you don't!!</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>We first met Snoopy-Tu thru email, wherein he was a stray at East Valley
Animal Shelter. It was near thanksgiving and we were full (as we are again),
Snoopy was adopted to the general public from the shelter and we archived the
photos, and moved to the next hound in need. Bye Snoopy, have fun in your
new home</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Not to be.</DIV>
<DIV>We got a call from our pals at East Valley - Snoopy had eaten a rock and
had a blockage requiring invasive surgery. the adopter took him back to the
shelter. We were called in to save his life as shelters cannot provide
this type of medical care. Snoopy-Tu (so named as we had another Snoopy at
the time_ 1 1/2 years of puppy went straight to Roswinn and had surgery and
arrived at the ranch 2 weeks ago. 8 days after this surgery, Snoopy-Tu
managed to pop a suture in his crate and was rushed to the vets office for
suture repair.</DIV>
<DIV>The first surgery was expensive, and suture repair would add a bit more to
it.</DIV>
<DIV>What happened next was life threatening, a one in a million odds and
became a serious crisis.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Snoopy-Tu while in transport to the vet, in a crate, dug his back nail into
his intestine, and pulled them out.</DIV>
<DIV>That is the simplest way to tell the story. In 48 years of working with
bassets, in having seen many. many bizarre things, this was the first time I had
experienced this particular crisis. Our amazing Dr. Kim attempted to fix
the situation upon our arrival at mach 10, however, he was then required to
be transferred to a specialist as several areas of intestine required re
sectioning.</DIV>
<DIV>All in all it was very stressful, very painful and horribly
expensive! So Expensive that we have made this firstgiving page and are
once again asking our friends, supporters and donors to dig deep and help us
replenish the funds we had to spend to save his life - it has literally wiped us
out.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>

<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>We have graphic photos of the situation, one thing I would definitely like
to stress to one and all - CUT THOSE NAILS!!! If this could happen to us,
and we're used to EVERYTHING or so we thought, imagine how your hound would do
in a crisis? Snoopy-Tu is back at the ranch tonight, I picked him up
special. He's on 7 meds and crate confinement for the next 2 weeks
minimum. As we were leaving the specialty hospital the techs warned
me: "He's started scratching at his belly - don't let him do that!"</DIV>
<DIV>Ummmmm. Well, those Muttluks are going to come in very very
handy!</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Thank you for helping Snoopy-Tu - and Janine...... I'm posting a funny
story about Peal next, don't worry all email from me is not crisis
related!!</DIV>
