I have to agree with Joey about not wanting bassets to win
the top dog show prizes. Because they “can become "wanted, needed,
gotta have it" dogs by people who have no clue about the basset breed or any
other for that matter. Which leads to more basset backyard breeders
and more bassets getting dumped, abandoned, taken to the pound, etc.” I hadn’t
looked at it this way in regards to the Dog Shows but had for not wanting
Bassets in a lot of commercials and/or movies/tv shows. But it is the same
with either way. People are impulse buyers and just want whatever is hip
and trendy at the time and don’t think about does this dog or other item fit
into my life, can I take care of it properly etc. You get the picture…and
I know I’m preaching to the choir.

I have only been a Drooler for about a year or so. So I
literally have missed out on the good ol’days, but to me the Drool has been
wonderful and I am addicted to the Drool. Hello my name is Michele Swartz,
I am owned by Colt & Ruger and I am a basset hound and Daily Drool
Addict. I wish that I would have known about the drool back when it first
started, I have learned so much in the short time that I have been a Drooler
that I feel that I have short changed my now ATB hounds. I stumbled across
the drool while at work and in one of those weird limbo states…that time where
you have everything caught up or you are waiting of others to give you info so
that you can finish your work, so I was googling basset websites and found the
basset hound holy grail…the Daily Drool. I love the stories, the advice
and cry with each bridge crossing. I have several cyber friends now and a few
that I have met in person because of the drool. I hope that this year I can meet
many more of you by attending a few waddles with my DH and our two hounds.
Because of the drool it opened my eyes about homeless hounds and now I am
a member of BaRCSE and support several other rescues when I can. I love my
drool family! The good, the bad and the ugly of the drool…gotta love it
all.

Last night was really quite and laid back at the house.
Just everyone laying around get pets and sawing logs. Nothing really
exciting to write in about.
