<div>We had a cat who lived with us over the course of several bassets. We had some chasing at first, but within a few days Christine the 8-pound Cat would swipe her claws at the chasing dog's nose, and the basset steered clear of the cat forever after. This only works if the cat has claws, and if the cat isn't too timid to stand up to a "big" dog, and if "Tonka" isn't going for a meal instead of just a great chase.</div>
