I agree with everyone on seniors, they are
great. Nelly Belle at almost 12 has come so

far in almost 2 1/2 yrs and has really
blossomed. She doesn't have a bossy bone in her

(except when Bazzle tries to hump her) but she
can be sneaky. When the other hounds

are hogging the couch, Nelly B will act like she
is wanting to play. She drops her chest to

the floor, ahroo and bounce around until the gang
gets off the couch. She then runs for

the steps to get on the couch and will fall
asleep in her favorite place. If she can trick them

down then she worms her way on the chair with me
until she is behind me and whine until I

get up. (I would get another chair but then
one of the others would take it too.)

Just because seniors are older doesn't mean they
just sleep all the time. Nelly B still has a

lot of playfulness in her. Tonight was one
of those nights when she just wanted to play with

Momma. My heart always sighs happily when
she wants to play and sometimes I think that

she is finally getting to enjoy her
puppyhood. She loves to go, whether it is to the park, just

a ride to the post office or across the street to
feed her Auntie's kitties while she is on vacation.

On rides she is just as well mannered as she is
in the house. Yesterday when we went to mail

pincushions she sat quietly in the car watching
me. I do feel a bit sorry for her when she tries

to counter cruise...she can barely reach the
bottom of the counter with her nose. Sometimes I

will "accidently" drop something so she thinks
she has "scored". She is a Momma's girl through

and through. Ruby Doo(the
I AM NOT a basset and will NEVER be Husky) who is 9 still can be
v

very playful as well. The 2 youngsters are
always wrestling with her and she starts it most of the time.

While my senior gals may have to potty more
frequently at night than the youngsters, how can

I complain....I do too! They may walk a
little slower and take more frequent naps but they are the

lights of my life. I know that if I
need a nap during the day they and Fabulous Freddie will always

be there to enjoy the down
time. Ruby Doo being a senior has snuck up on me but Nelly
B taught

me what it is to take in a senior and what
it means to give your heart to them.

Life is good with seniors in the house.
