<DIV>We are trying to get our new guy, Tony, to go for walks. He is interested for about 30 feet and then stops. Doesn't move, doesn't look around, just stops. We stand and wait. Maybe in 5 minutes (long minutes) he'll move. Maybe not. I had a trainer come to the house to see if we were doing something wrong. ( I've been walking dogs for 40 years but you never know) She had a pouch filled with chicken hot dogs so of course Tony went with her. I have tried real boneless chicken, Beggin' Strips, and swiss cheese. Cheese got the most response but not great. I think he is just not interested. He is perfectly happy in the yard. He likes to go for rides to the park but to walk around the park, not so much. Gets out of the car, walks to bench and sits. May try to chase egret into water then statue dog. All I really want to do is be able to get him out of street if he stops in the middle. IF we pull him, barks and growls. I don't need a bite and my husband doesn't want another. I don't know his history but he may have never been walked so I'm trying to teach an old dog new tricks. When he does deign to walk, he stays right next to me, no pulling or tugging. The only time he leaves my side is to squirrel hunt. Any tips??????</DIV>
