Things are essentially the same. So far, the cultures have come back negative but they are continuing to be incubated through 4 days. Pat was retaining a TON of fluid, so they did some diuresis (massive diuretics) today resulting in output of 2 LITERS of fluid … that is A LOT!! They have modified her nutrition to include more protein as that will help decrease the fluid retention. BP is stable at 139/70, Respiration 23, Temperature 99, Heart Rate 88, chest xrays show slight improvement, bronchial wash showed no bacteria (final report), urine negative (final report), no results from blood cultures of 6/9/11 yet. Strep cultures will be repeated in 3 days and again at 10 and 14 days. The docs and nurses are satisfied with the slow, steady stabilization and slight improvement.

Thank you all for your concern and prayers. She is not out of the woods yet … so please continue with prayers and drool.

Sandi
