This has been a lousy week. Sending love to
Nancy on losing Toby, we're never ready for it. Today we had to send our
baby boy Fred to the Bridge, only 6 weeks after his surgery. The last
couple days he wasn't feeling right, because after the surgery he was his old
happy self, running around with our granddaughter and eating everything in
sight. Yesterday morning his belly was swollen; it scared me; I thought it
was bloat because he was panting and trying to throw up but nothing would come
up. We got him in right away and after a couple x rays we found out there
was another mass that was already growing and had pushed some of his organs
around, his liver was enlarged, and he had blood in his abdomen. We knew
he couldn't take another surgery and didn't want to put him thru something that
he wouldn't come out of anyway. I didn't want to lose him that way.
So we held him and kissed him and the doctor helped him to the Bridge. He
must have been needed up there to help Elder Clara. When we used to walk
the trail he was always the greeter to everyone and everydog who walked by;
maybe she can give him a part time job of helping her get everyone settled
in. He would love that. He can now get to be with his
kitty sisters Yoda and Leia again and maybe sneak a cheeseburger or two off the
buffet when no one is looking. I want to thank everyone who helped me
during his surgery; you know exactly what we're going thru right now. Our
granddaughter is heartbroken and Freddy's kitty brothers Scout and Demon know
something is wrong. He was our baby for 10 of his 11 years and he definitely
leaves a huge hole in our hearts and our lives.
