My mom has a bed sore, and she is in the nursing home. They use a variety of ointments on her, but even if I had the name, you would probably need a prescription. (I will look up the name next time I can get in the room where I keep Mom's paper work. Anyway, if you could rotate her, put a pillow under her, and even cover the sore, I think it would help. I have used band aides on my dogs before, and there is a special extra comfy one for bed sores that you could probably get at a medical supply store.

I hope this helps, and healing drool for your fur baby. That Vet sounds a little cold, but they are bound by law to see the patient before writing the script. What about a house call?

anyone have a sure fire treatment for a bed sore. I have a 15 year old fur baby
that has arthritis in her right rear hip. She lays on this side constantly and
has developed a bed sore in this area. She absolutely freaks out when we have
to go to the vet. Last time she turned feral and I thought she was going to have
a heart attack she got so worked up. My vet won’t prescribe any
medication unless I bring her in….well, that’s out of the question.
He did say wash the wound several times a day with mild soap and water and when
dry apply Neosporin to the area….and finished it off with “Good
Luck”. Surely my droolers out there have a solution other than “Good
Luck”. All treatments will be appreciated.
