The hounds are sending all the drool they can
muster up for all of you. Take this time to spoil Nigel and I think he
will have some good days ahead still enjoying his time here. Many years
ago we had a big lab mix who woke up on a Sunday morning and his back legs just
wouldn't work. After spending days at the vet they determined that he had
spondilosis (sp) and might recover so we brought him home. To make this
long story short, he never did however we all adjusted to his plight. We
got him a walking cart which he outgrew in about 6 months because he just got
heavier from lack of exercise. My husband built a ramp to get him down the
steps into the yard and I had to literally pick him up by grabbing him in the
back end and wrap my arms around him to walk him out. We
improvised......we propped him up over a picnic table bench to poop....he
couldn't release his bladder from the paralysis so I would prop his back
end between my knees and squeeze his bladder......it worked. Harley lived
for a year after he got sick and we made the decision to send him on to his next
adventure when he became totally incontinent. He was a big dog.....135
pounds when he left us. He was a very happy boy.....loved life even when
he couldn't walk because he was with us all the time and was a great listener
:-). I might add that I went from a size 12 down to size 8 in that year
from carrying Harley's back end around...lol.

you and decide to hang around for a while. Drool and love produce amazing
results.
