<DIV style="RIGHT: auto">I just read a book by a behaviorist that was having the same issue as you with her border collie. Her border collie would wake up violently, go on direct attack--tried to get her throat and/or face accompanied with a blank stare. It turned out her girl had epilepsy. Does Gus stare at you blankly during any of this? Look dazed? Does he always wake up like this or only now and then? If he seems alert and coherent during these attacks, I would definitely banish<VAR id=yui-ie-cursor></VAR> him to a crate. If he seems at all dazed, confused, or in a fog, I would tell my vet ASAP.</DIV>
