Snoopy is only doing what any dog who can will. What you need to do
is train Natalie: no food gets left out on the counter or the stove
- ever. It either goes in a cabinet or in the fridge (or on top of
the fridge.) I know she's young, and kids often don't really think
ahead, but if you stress the fact that Snoopy could not only get
very sick, but could die, if he continues to get into food he's not
supposed to have, maybe that will help. Harsh, but sometimes that's
what it takes.
My dad has still not learned this lesson, even though Bertha (1/2
basset, 1/2 American foxhound and very tall) has been with him and
my mom for 4 years. Luckily she's never eaten anything that would
make her terribly ill, but she has gotten quite obese.
