<DIV>We sent Maynard to The Bridge a little while ago. Pat Alton helped us rescue him 7 + years ago when she worked in the day care of a vet in Toledo. Maynard had so many lumps and bumps (all benign) and he also could get quite grumpy when made to do something he didn't want to do.....so he was deemed unadoptable and we kept him. He continued to have a bizzilion lumps over the years. He had several lumpectomies. He also had major back issues losing use of his hind legs completely....twice. He had the underwater treadmill therapy both times and got back up and running again. He was one determined and stubborn guy. He had also gone deaf and couldn't see very well with his cloudy eyes.</DIV>

<DIV>In the past couple weeks he had many of the lumps rupture and we had to constantly muzzle him to clean them out. He then started losing his back legs again and had to be boosted up MANY times each day. He'd get stuck in the back yard and have to be rescued. It was getting so he couldn't poop without falling in it. </DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>He also stopped eating this week. Would only eat cottage cheese and chewies and cookies. He was drinking a LOT of water, too. This morning he got up (on his own) went outside and threw up a lot of bile. It was time. We are guilty of waiting too long, we're sure, but it was still Terribly Difficult letting him go. </DIV>

<DIV>He should have had a T Shirt that said, "I'm barking and I can't Shut Up". It is horribly quiet around here. We will miss him, but it was time. When we got him from the shelter they said he was between 6 and 8. We had him for 7 years. He was a VERY, VERY Old Man. </DIV>
