I read it every day and laugh at the antics of all the hounds and most certainly cry with everyone that loses one. When I lost my Kipper last year to a tragic car accident, I received so many e-mails from you all and it really got me thru a very difficult time.

However, on to more pleasant things. My husband and I really want to adopt another hound so Lucy (our 1 year old rescue hound) can have a buddy/playmate. We would love to have a brand new puppy, but our goal is not to buy a hound, but rather do rescue if we can. We are looking for a very young hound (prefer one that is around 6 – 18 months of age) as Lucy is so energetic, I don’t think a hound already set in his ways would be a good match. We have been looking on Petfinder and, of course, put the word out to all our friends. We almost had one a couple of weeks ago – a shelter in West Virgina had a 6 month old owner surrender, but it took them a week to call me back and she was gone by the time I got ahold of someone. The reason for this post is that I live in Murrysville, Pa which is a suburb outside of Pittsburgh. I certainly don’t mind driving a few hours if I have to , but have had no luck. So if anyone reading this post knows of any furbabies in rescue that need a wonderful home, please let me know. Feel free to contact me off list if you want. We have seen many basset mixes, but we really want a purebred basset because as you all know – there is nothing like a basset! Sorry for the long post. Drool to all of those in need.

Sandy Probola
