Hello droolers. I just wanted to let all of
you know of a new item for the hounds that I came across at our dog wash the
other day.

Its called the Happy Hoodie. The Happy Hoodie is a
soft, expandable, lightweight, safe, comfortable band that is placed over a
pet’s ears to provide relief and protection from the loud noise and
high-pressured air associated with force drying and other noises like fireworks,
storms vacuum cleaners etc. It reminds me of a large sweat band; like I
use to wear on my wrist when I played basketball many moons ago.

Anyhowl...It works pretty well. The owner of
the pet wash says that it works great on dogs that hate the dryer, and he has
even had feed back from owners using it for anxiety caused by car rides, storms
and fireworks. Dogs that normally stressed out over these events, but with the
hoodie on most would lay down and go sleep or just walk around the house as if
there was nothing to be stressed about...normal day. My personal
experience is that Ruger hates the blow dryer. So we tried it on him while
drying him and he dang near fell asleep standing up while I was drying him
out. No stress, no tongue dangling, no bulging freaked out eyeballs, no
tense body, no trying to escape nothing except sleepy eyeballs. And
Colt...well he was snoring while he was wearing it and being blow dryed.
So I bought one...and Ruger will be wearing it anytime he gets blow dryed or any
other time that he seems a little nervous which is mostly with any load obnoxios
noises like blow dryers, the vacuum or smoke detectors.

For those dogs that are afraid of Thunderstorms and
or fireworks I think this will help...If not on its own then maybe in
conjunction with a thundershirt. Hey I am all about a drug free hound...I
just wish this and the thundershirts were around when I had Shadow ATB and
Wolfgang ATB who were so scared ot storms and fireworks that they literally
tried to climb up on top of my head. I hated to drug them, but I was
afraid that they would stroke out or have a heart attack if I
didn't.
