Joey Hound is pretty sick... I woke up on Wednesday, and his right eye was swollen shut w/schmutz coming out of it, and the left 3rd eyelid was up. Tried to walk him, just down the sidewalk to take a piddle. He wound up tripping & toppled off! It was about a 3 inch fall, so nothing injured but his pride, but I was REALLY concerned!! Took him to the vet asap on Wednesday morning, and the eye was so swollen shut that he couldn't get a reading on it w/the Tonopen. He was lathargic & just not quite right... Left him w/the vet techs for the day for a snooter to tail look over; turned out the poor boy had a bladder infection & the eyeball was swollen bad. Brought him back on Thursday, and the eyeball had opened up, but looked a bit blue, vet took pressure reading & got 10 in the left & 25-26 in the right, which he said was boarderline. To me, it looks like the eye is pretty much dead, since it's blue & looks similar to what happens in many blind human's eyes, but the vet said that the pupils were reactive. Fast forwarding a bit, I wound up taking him home to IL with me, because I'm visiting a school about 2 hrs away that I got into for next year. Currently, he's on Clavomax (for the bladder infection), prednisone & timolol (timoptic, & only $5 generic!!) for the eyeball. My mom read that ginko could help w/eye pressure in dogs, does anyone know of any other supplaments that could help to regulate eye pressure? Luckily, there's an Animal Optometrist literally a 5 min drive from their house, that Joey will be headed to, to hopefully get this thing under control. Sadly, this sounds like it happens to too many hounds! And, so fast! He was chasing puppies at the park Tuesday night, then Wednesday he was so horribly sick!<br>
