She said for heartworm she recommended Heartguard and then whatever you like (I like advantax II because it repels mosquitos and tics and stuff too) for the rest. She said she could also get me Trifexis if I wanted it. I asked her what she had to say about Trifexis and she said "Dale, I like the heartguard." I said well, what about the Trifexis and she said "I can get it for you, but I like the heartguard."</div><div><br></div><div>There is also an advantage Multi that does the heartworm too. I just used the last dose of that on LuLu as that is what the resuce I foster for uses. She was fine with it. I asked the vet about that one and she said "if
you want it, I will order it for you. Dale, I like the heartguard."</div><div><br></div><div>So clueless though I certainly am I am married to the man who says it is foolish to pay a trained professional for their opinion and then ignore it. He feels you either go with their advise or else you find yourself a new Doc. And, I like this vet for a long time now.</div><div><br></div><div>So, Heartguard. And Advantix II (for us). I know nothing about it other than this. When I asked at the desk about anything new, something that might repel mosquitoes and other flying
bothersome things I was directed to Trifexis. Now I am a bit paranoid when it comes to the dogs and putting chemicals on them. I know that in the past I have succesfully used FRONTLINE, but I know the ticks are fierce this year and thought maybe something new had come along.</font></font></div>
<div><font face="Verdana">For some reason I asked if they had had any reactions to it and one receptionist shook her head and the other said YES! My dog had to come in and get a shot, and be washed two times in Dawn dishwashing liquid to get it all off. He was vomiting and shaking within an hour of the time I applied it.</font></div>
<div><font face="Verdana"></font> </div><div><font face="Verdana">Ok that was enough for me and I stocked up on Frontline.</font></div><div><font face="Verdana">Figure the odds.</font></div><div><font face="Verdana">There were maybe 4 receptionists standing there and the one who had tried it had a bad reaction. I don't care if it's 1 in 5 or 1 in 10,000--if that's MY dog it's bad news.</font></div>
<div><font face="Verdana">Make up your own minds. This is just my experience altho I will say I have heard, since then, of other serious reactions to it and I notice their ads on TV also have a pretty heavy duty disclaimer.</font></div>
<div><font face="Verdana">Also a reminder: You buy your heartgard and Frontline from the Vet and you pay more but by the same token the companies then stand behind their rpoducts, which is NOT the case when you save a few bucks by buying online.</font></div>
