When it rains, it pours... Just when my parents thought that they were done w/houndy medical issues for awhile, the vet thinks one of their notafosteranylonger hounds has Cushing's Disease. While we all know this disease isn't good, we also know it's treatable & manageable. So, we're trying to find information on Cushing's, and also on what supplements & things that others have found helped their fur babies! The one that's sick, Abby, is the 12 yr old fur-real buppy of their older notafosteranylonger hound Sadie (14-ish yrs old).

I know mom mentioned something about liver values, and I've read on older posts that Milk Thistle can help with liver issues. Has anyone had success with other supplements helping their Cushing's hounds? I think dad said he found something that's supposed to help specifically w/Cushings, but I can't remember what's in it... Also, I recall giving my old Slater (aka Bubba Dawg) Co Q 10, and it perked him right up! But, I think Co Q 10 was more for the heart, and overall senior health... They're also waiting for the confirmation from the special blood test that they are waiting to hear back, but with her symptoms (always hungry (not able to feel full at all), circling, hair & skin issues, etc.) the vet is pretty sure that it'll wind up being Cushing's... Also, she's been on Thyroid meds for awhile; originally they thought that it was that that was causing the issues, but now it's looking more & more like Cushing's.

And, drool to those in need!

--
-Karrie, momma to Joey & Emma, with Slater (ATB), Aunty to Checkers, Domino & Crispin (wb)

Joey's dogster page: http://www.dogster.com/dogs/637473
