You can consider a third option such as a room, or the kitchen,or a small area you can gate up, so she has more room and has a good look of the house without having anything to tear up. My girl did good in the crate, but being all work day home alone, seemed to be too much. She now has a spare (empty) bedroom with a couple of dog beds and toys and a gate, so the door is open and she can keep an eye out on the feline activity in the house. I don't know about your hound but mine does sleep a bunch during the day (but not for 8 hours straight). I would worry about leaving her outside. Why are you considering a dog run? Is your yard not fenced in? If it is not fenced I would definitely not put her outside because people or other animals can tease her or bother her. Good luck. I am sure you will find the best solution.

Trimis de pe iPhone-ul meu

Pe Aug 27, 2012, la 5:53 PM, Janett Lopez-Inayama <inayamas@yahoo.com> a scris:

The DAILY DROOL
An internet mail list designed to
entertain and inform basset hounds
and their people.

------------------------------------------

----
/ \__
|\ / @ \
\ \_______| \ .: O
\ ##| | \__/
| ####\__/ \
/ / ## \|
/ /__________\ \
L_JJ \__JJ
-----------------------------
***Secret Pawtner Info***
http://lists.dailydrool.org/listinfo.cgi/secretpawtner-dailydrool.org

Daily Drool Website:
http://www.dailydrool.com

Vote for Basset of the Week: http://www.dailydrool.com/botw.html

Dictionary of Common Drool Terminology:
http://mysite.verizon.net/msrandolph/

Daily Drool Archives:
http://lists.dailydrool.org/pipermail/dailydrool-dailydrool.org/

Old Daily Drool Archives:
http://oldarchives.dailydrool.org/dailydrool/

Hi,

My family and Ijust adopted a Basset from Daphneyland in Acton, CA.

We couldn't be more overjoyed with our new family member. She is a beautiful 6 yr old girl.

My question is, since my kids are in school/day care all day and my husband and I both work full time is it ok to keep our new girl crated during the day. The other option is a dog run outside. What do you recommend is the best option. How do bassets fair in a crate for 4-5 hrs stretches? Is the dog run better? We are heating up again so I'm worried about it being too hot outside and also worried about a howling hound outside. I am able to come home during lunch for about an hour so I can spend a little time and take her on a short walk. What do you recommend at the best option to train her on?
