He can also <SPAN style="RIGHT: auto" id=misspell-1><SPAN>prescribe</SPAN></SPAN> an oral anti <SPAN style="RIGHT: auto" id=misspell-2><SPAN>inflammatory</SPAN></SPAN> such a <SPAN style="RIGHT: auto" id=misspell-3><SPAN id=misspell-1 class=mark>rimadyl</SPAN></SPAN>--which works on tissue not just joints--<SPAN style="RIGHT: auto" id=misspell-4><SPAN id=misspell-2 class=mark>prednisone</SPAN></SPAN> for <SPAN style="RIGHT: auto" id=misspell-5><SPAN>inflammation</SPAN></SPAN> and itching--even <SPAN style="RIGHT: auto" id=misspell-6><SPAN>antihistamines</SPAN></SPAN> like <SPAN style="RIGHT: auto" id=misspell-7><SPAN>Zyrtec</SPAN></SPAN> and <SPAN id=misspell-3
class=mark>claritin</SPAN> will help with <SPAN style="RIGHT: auto" id=misspell-9><SPAN>inflammation</SPAN></SPAN> and itching--or <SPAN style="RIGHT: auto" id=misspell-10><SPAN>trimodal</SPAN></SPAN> can also help greatly with pain. What does your vet say? You might want to call him to make sure nothing is in his ear canal and to make sure he doesn't have a <SPAN style="RIGHT: auto" id=misspell-11><SPAN style="RIGHT: auto" id=misspell-4 class=mark>hematoma</SPAN></SPAN> or something else going on. If he was recently seen, I would just call the vet and describe the symptoms and see what he/she suggests.
