Plant material borne infection!

Yesterday off I go to the vet's office with Friday (my rescue of mixed heritage) as he was poking at his ear. Sure enough he has a yeast infection in both. So having made yet another donation to the vet( maybe we will get our own parking spot) we came home still waiting the result on Abby's(100%basset) biopsy.

While waiting I had a message from Nigel & Llewis's mom telling me not to worry too much as it could be a foreign material in the mass. Well, sure enough the vet calls and tells me it was a plant material borne infection. A what? Apparently something got under her skin, caused the infection and hence the mass just grew and grew. She had been on antibiotics twice before the surgery and when it swelled up again the vet wanted to take it out to be sure it wasn't more serious. She told me after the results came back that she thought it might be bad.

So.... I can't tell you how relieved I am. Abby is the sweetest girl. The thought of losing her just killed me. I send my human love and hugs to all of you who are dealing with your puppies health issues and old age. I have 2 bassets ATB and those were the some of hardest days in my life.I think it says a lot about us as people as we spend our days rescuing, nursing, training our little critters and in gratitude getting to see their bellies up waiting for a rub. The rewards are their affection. Your love for your animals comes through in all of your posts. I think I have found a home here. Thank you, thank you for all the drool slobber & kind, kind words. You helped me get through a tough time.
